This I believe
There is Great Merit in Being Positive
I believe in being positive, in always
keeping a constructive tone to my words and the way I express myself.
I believe in searching for just the right words,
words conveying purposeful intent, words that affirm good.
I go out of my way to turn a sentence around
to accommodate my idiosyncrasy of seeking goodness, excellence, value and
worth. I often sound like I am
struggling with my language, my pauses are frequently too long for the good of communication.
Sometimes a well-meaning interlocutor will offer a suggestion to finish
my thought but I will not be deterred from my probing effort to say what I
want, exactly as I want.
I believe that words are real beings and that we summon them when we speak or write, bring them into existence and breathe
life into them. I say things that I want
to be true, moving rapidly away from thoughts of anything different from
happiness, health and success when referring to myself or those close to
me. I challenge myself with this task, I
assign myself the duty of finding the right words, positive words to express what
I want to achieve and what I want to bring into my own life and to those around
me.
I once heard that words are like
little birds in a cage, when we let them out we cannot get them back. I want
only words of gracious and encouraging affirmation flying forth from my mouth
and chirping about me, brightly sweeping through my life with joy. At the risk of appearing to be ever searching
for the appropriate term,
I believe this: there is great merit in being
positive.
